Podcasts in the Classroom

Students can create podcasts in the classroom as a part of their learning. Ideas that students or a classroom can use for a podcast is a weekly classroom news broadcast, document field trips and activities, recording class discussions, sharing reviews, conducting interviews and reviewing curriculum or concepts that they are learning.

Podcasts would be a fun and engaging way that students can collaborate and share their learning, while adding their own creativity to it. Students can showcase their personality and become a host and content expert. Podcasts can be done individually or in pairs or groups at any age. Teachers can also use podcasts as a form of assessment, as they will be able to access them and review what students have learned.

Podcasts also give teachers the luxury to listen to a student's work while on their commute or multi-tasking.

Applications such as GarageBand on Apple products is a great source to start. Teachers can also access a software through Soundtrap that also allows the podcasts to be shared within Google Classroom.
