Technology in the Classroom

Technology in the classroom can be a helpful tool to both teachers and students, however it requires those who use it to be well educated on how to use it accordingly. It is important for new users to understand where to find credible sources and how to properly use the material. Technology cannot only teach new things, but it also requires a great responsibility.
If teachers are going to require students to use data found online, they must also teach appropriate ways to credit those who posted the information. As students progress from grade to grade, the information they seek is required to be more thorough and detailed. They are expected to find real world information and be able to build on the knowledge they found. It is important to remind students that it is alright to use ideas posted by others, but they do need to credit the person for the information.
Teaching students to be responsible online will not only help them avoid serious consequences, but also teaching them valuable skills that will only support them as they progress.
