TOONTASTIC!

TOONTASTIC!

With Toontastic you can draw, animate, and narrate your own personal narrative with cartoons, sound effects, and drawings made by you! It's as easy as play. Just move your characters around the screen, tell your story and toontastic records your voice and animations and stores it on your device as a 3D video.

Who is it for?
Toontastic is made for future authors, directors, musicians, inventors and anyone else who wants to turn their brilliant ideas into 3D Cartoons.

What is it made for?
With Toontastic 3D, you can draw, animate, and narrate adventures, breaking news stories, science reports and all your other creative ideas.

What was it made?
Google wanted to give storytellers of all ages a megaphone to share their creativity with the world!

While Toontastic was not specifically designed for schools, we have heard from a lot of educators over the years that they love how the app sparks their students' imaginations and uses the story arc to help frame their writing. Their students use the app for creating everything from book reports to news broadcasts and foreign language skills (Toontastic, 2017).

Benefits
Literacy: Moves beyond reading/writing, incorporates aspects of being technologically literate. Students engage with a wide range of computer functions, incorporating individual ideas and app features to create a finished product.
Narration: Being able to add one's voice to a story can convey a wide range of emotions/tones. Students can connect with one another in diverse ways.
Fun & Innovative: Students move beyond pen/paper. Interacting with digital mediums can give students an outlet to express themselves with moving images/icons.

Students have the option to move beyond heteronormative figures. By creating characters, students have the option of selecting different skin tones, hair colours, size and clothing. This can liberate students from the confines of societal expectations, breaking boundaries.
