Self esteem is not something that can be handed to an individual, yet something that can be facilitated. This facilitation ensures that challenges are something that enhance one's self-esteem as opposed to threatening their ego. Although this is often found in a classroom environment, self esteem is something that can be affected by outside factors, such as hobbies, feedback from a guardian, and etc.

The Importance of Self Esteem
Below is a picture of me after a soccer game when I was about 8 years old. In this photo, I was being given constructive criticism regarding the game I just played. 10 years later, I received multiple full ride soccer scholarships to D1 universities, and attended East Carolina University for my undergrad. I found that I was fortunate enough to grow up with coaches who were able to instill confidence in me at a young age through their ability to praise and criticize me.
In return, I was able to challenge myself in new situations, and strive to learn more about the game and my play in order to better myself.
I strongly believe that a child's self esteem is stemmed from effort praise, strategy praise and criticism, both inside and outside of the classroom.
