Flipgrid is an accessible and interesting technology program that I was first introduced to in the Foundations of Literacy class here at Niagara University. It is a way to engage students and allow them to respond to topics through the use of videos.
Flipgrid can be used across all ages and grades. How it works is that the teacher creates and posts a topic, and the students respond with a short video clip. They are also able to view the responses of their peers, which makes room for discussion. It is another fun and free resource to use to engage students, while teaching through online learning.
For the purpose of our class assignment, we used Flipgrid to create a read aloud for a story book we chose on an issue of social justice, diversity and/or equity. All of the responses were great, and it was interesting to see how everyone made theirs so unique and fun.
