Although Smart Boards may be expensive and not accessible to all school districts, it has many benefits. Smart boards are a large, touch-controlled screen that works with a projector. This electronic white board has access to any resource that a computer has such as internet, YouTube, online games etc.
Teachers can use smart boards to get students to follow dances during break, easily play videos that describe a unit that was just studied and even allow their students to play interactive games. Instead of clicking a button on a mouse when playing on the computer, these students are demonstrating their knowledge to the whole class when interacting with the board.
Smart boards encourage students to write by having large pens that can be used to physically write on the board. This visual presentation can benefit both the student using it, their classmates as well as the teacher. If the teacher needs to assist particular students in the class, other students can play on the smart board and learn on their own until the teacher is available again!
