These four C's are essential skills for modern students to both succeed in school and the workplace. The four C's are Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication. Combined, students are empowered to become one person think tanks for life.
Critical Thinking is the practise to solve complex problems, hold the right judgement, and understand. Teaching critical thinking empowers students to discover different strategies to support their thinking. For example, it is important to teach students how to get to the right answer instead of just skipping directly to the right answer.
Creativity is often thought of as "thinking outside the box". This skill should not be treated as "you have it or you don't" because students can learn creative strategies to support their learning and thinking. Creativity should not be connected to only artistry. Students should realize their thinking processes or their approach is creative specific to them. Creativity is essential for students to embrace their strengths and be motivated to communicate their thoughts with others.
Collaboration is essential for student learning. Students should understand the importance of working with others and the fact that they will be working with people all their life so they should learn how to work together effectively. Practicing collaboration and teamwork benefits the classroom environment but also helps students learn through others different approaches, perspective, and learning styles.
Communication skills are essential for students to learn. When positive communication is exchanged with themselves, teachers, peers, and parents, the needs and strengths of students could be known. Communication is key to learning. Students need to ask questions to excel, and work with each other to build knowledge and social skills.
