Importance of Social Emotional Check-ins!

Social Emotional Learning is an integral part of education and human development

SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

Introducing Social Emotional Learning early on is critical as it often creates…

1. More positive attitudes toward oneself, others, and tasks including enhanced self-efficacy, confidence, persistence, empathy, connection and commitment to school, and a sense of purpose.

2. More positive social behaviors and relationships with peers and adults.

3. Navigation to reduce conduct problems and risk-taking behavior.
