The calm app is an effective mindfulness tool built with the set goal of helping improve individuals' health and happiness through different methods. These include improvement in terms of sleep, helping reduce stress or anxiety, helping improve focus, self-improvement, and others. This app can be used on IOS, Android and desktop providing different methods of being used.
The app includes hundreds of exercises to calm, breathing techniques, and even sleep stories. The app has an easy facilitation, regularly updates, you can track basic statistics, it provides meditation reminders, tracks your mood over time, it is also kid-friendly and includes real-life visuals along with nature sounds.
Immediately when you open the app you are asked to take a few deep breaths which helps put you in the right zone, followed with asking you what you're reasoning for using the app is. The section on meditation includes four different categories such as stress, focus, anxiety, or relationships. The app also offers guided and unguided meditations which range from 3 to 30 minutes.
The app also supports calming for kids as it includes meditation to Thomas the Tank Engine, soothing lullabies or simply falling asleep to classic stories. These offerings are for children as young as 3 years old.
While the app has a free and paid option the free option still provides an abundance of resources to support you in relaxation without the extra costs.
