This past year I worked as a tutor at a community center. During my time tutoring, I often found that at the end of an hour or two focusing on homework students were tired and unmotivated to keep learning. I found it beneficial to end each tutoring session with a fun game or activity to combat these feelings students were having as it gave them something to look forward to. When you're doing lots of hard work it's also great to set aside a few minutes for fun.
One resource I used often was TVO Kids. It's a free website where you can explore different games and shows and it's packed full of wonderful resources that you can filter by topic (Science and Technology, Social Studies, Health etc.) which allows you to choose things that interest you. The website is also very user friendly with pictures, words and sounds that let you know different information about the topics you're viewing.
The website also has a homework zone where you can watch videos of teachers explaining different topics. For example, if you're struggling with dividing decimal numbers you can head over to the homework zone tab and find videos of teachers explaining what to do and showing examples.
TVO Kids is hours of fun and can be used inside and outside of the classroom with appropriate supervision and help.
