Exploring 360!
When schools went on lockdown and learning went online, a huge part of school that unfortunately could not happen was field trips. Field trips were something as kids that we all looked forward to. We could go to the ROM, Science center, farms, and more. During lockdown I had the opportunity to teach Zoom online to students. During the space theme I was trying to think of more ways to make the learning experience immersive for the students and fun, especially since they were online. A really great resource I found was Access Mars.
This is an interactive website that allows you to use your mouse and get a 360 look at mars as well learn information at the same time. The students loved it and it was like we took our own little field trip to space. After finding this website, I went on YouTube and saw that if you type in national geographic 360 there were multiple videos that actually let you use your mouse to move the screen and see all over. You can see the coral reef, a rocket launching, outer space and more.
These are great resources to use to help introduce themes and topics into the classroom. We unfortunately can't go to space for a field trip, but these videos and sources allow children to learn information in a fun way.
