When reflecting upon my learning experience while attending the workshops at the conference, it has been an excellent opportunity to be a part of each workshop. The Resilient Teacher was very insightful, informative and uplifting. The environment felt very welcoming, friendly, warm and bright, music played softly in the background. As Teacher Candidates entered the room, it set the tone of a calming environment.
This workshop spoke on important key concepts, of how wellness, self-care and resilience play an important part in our everyday lives. To acknowledge that self-care is NOT -selfish and that allowing yourself to be aware is giving yourself grace. Taking time to remember that we may need those micro reset moments is ok.
Just as students need their DPA daily physical activity Incorporating 2-5 minutes of movement throughout your day helps set the small resets that help prevent big breakdowns. Take time to think of strategies that work for you, Such as simply using breathing practices, meditation, or going for walks, writing your thoughts through journaling, and remembering positive affirmations are important as well. There are many ways we can incorporate self-care into our daily lives and it is important to do so. It helps fuel our energy and our mindset, when we enable ourselves to take time to prioritize ourselves. It also allows us as future teachers to set the tone of positive mindsets and rejuvenate our energy. I will always keep this in mind for my future teaching career. And remember that awareness and well-being create a sense of new found energy as we create moments of mindfulness and awareness.
