Both boys and girls have concerns about their body image during adolescence. It has always been an issue, but with the rising influence from the internet and social media, the message of body image positivity has twisted into an unhealthy one.

In the first month of COVID lockdown, Instagram was the second-most-used social platform, which means we could be staring at, and evaluating, our faces more than ever.

Could social media and platforms like Instagram be bringing out deep insecurities in girls and women fighting with body positivity? Or has social media reached a level that is creating internal issues that would not otherwise exist?
