Skills for students: What is social-emotional learning?

An introduction to social-emotional learning:

Social-emotional learning (SEL) describes the process of developing and expanding certain skills that help us to thrive. The focus is to develop skills for recognizing and managing thoughts and emotions, getting along with others, and approaching challenges in an organized and optimistic manner. SEL is associated with gains in both academic performance and well-being.
