Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an approach for students that will benefit their learning in several ways. It aims to take down those barriers when students are learning and addressing each of their individual needs in the classroom (Education Alberta, 2021). UDL provides teachers with a different way of both thinking and teaching that will give each student their own individual opportunity to grow, learn and develop.
When incorporating technology into the classroom, teachers are providing students with resources that are appropriate and beneficial to their learning, so that they can cater to each of the students' needs in the classroom. In order to support students' needs and diversity in the classroom, implementing technology and these resources will allow for the teacher to learn about what needs to be implemented, plan accordingly and do so by making changes in order to meet each student's individual needs (Ministry of Education, 2021).
When teachers want to use a unique approach to their learning through UDL, with the use of added technology, students can work both independently and in small and large groups in order to learn new concepts, work with one another and engage in assessments (Ministry of Education, 2021). Having various resources available to students creates a space where each of them can learn in an inclusive environment and be in a space that is adapting to meet each of their individual needs.
