Literacy is one of the main learning aspects in a student's life. It helps the student to develop the skills they need to succeed in their academics.
Reading plays a huge role in every child and teacher's life, reading is one of the means through which we consume information. Improving cognitive skills and development.
I chose a story to share with the children in my classroom called "The Tiny Seed". This book is meant to help children use their imagination and raise their awareness on the uniqueness of seeds. Which is similar to children as they are all unique. The book will take the children through the 4 seasons as it explains to them the life of a seed through all 4 seasons. The story portrays a small seed that struggled in the beginning to establish itself and grow. It concludes the struggle by the seed becoming a beautiful flower. I would use this book to ask children to share their thoughts, what did they notice? What did they like about the book?
Furthermore, I would elaborate on how we are all unique and have different skills, but what's important is that we try to utilize our abilities.
I will proceed by elaborating on the story by giving them a worksheet where they cut and glue the life sequence of the little seed. This activity will work on their ability to remember and use their fine motor skills.
