Online Learning Games to Assist Young Learners

Technology through the use of devices has provided many learning benefits supporting 21st century learners. Educators changed their way of teaching by incorporating new methodologies around teaching using educational computer programs. Learning through devices over the last year and a half has allowed students to continue their learning and stay interested through interactive learning games and activities. There are a variety of educational games across many subject areas that are simple and interactive for young students to engage in. Below are educational links that help support students with their reading, letter recognition, and 2-D shapes. I used these websites while working with young learners through the online learning platform. The majority of students enjoyed the online programs used during the online learning period.

Online Books

This website is amazing for young learners and has a variety of options to choose from. Each week students were asked to choose a book and read it to the class. I highly recommend this website especially if you are working in a kindergarten classroom.

Tracing Letters:

Students can use this website to trace the alphabet using their computer mouse. This was a fun activity that students would work on towards the end of the day.

Rhyming Word Game:

Here students are given words where they have to determine the rhyming word.

Connecting Dots to make shapes:

Students will be given numbers and they connect the numbers to make different 2-D shapes.

Interactive Geoboard:

This interactive GeoBoard is great because many students don't have access to a geoboard and being online this was a great substitute.
