Today more so than ever, tech has become the dominant learning tool in the classroom. Personally, I have noticed that in my placement classroom that teachers are allowing tech to be used throughout the day and for each lesson. I have never seen tech being used so much during the duration of a school day, as I grew up with tech still developing and even so, we only got to use tech on particular days. Teachers today need to find ways to balance tech in their class and use other forms of learning tools but we also need to consider that tech will always be the dominant tool, so it is important that we learn about different ways to be creative while using tech and not always using it for the same purposes. That way students aren't always bored and are engaged using new ways to incorporate tech into their schoolwork and lessons. Especially now with a pandemic, tech is a crucial tool used within classrooms. Students can use ipads, tablets, laptops, computers, etc with any of these interactive tools below to participate in classroom activities.
1. Flip Grid- Is a tool that I have just discovered this year as a way to share and read a story book virtually. You can also record yourself and use this tool for many other purposes. Teachers can create discussion topics and students can respond by recording their voice or through a video. They can edit it and be creative with the way they use this tool. Assignments can be done using this tool as well. It is great to evaluate oral communication. Here is a video on how to use flip grid.

2. Google Jamboard- Is another tool to keep students actively engaged and is used as a collaborative whiteboard to create and edit group work or ideas. This is especially good to use if classrooms are hybrid where students can feel connected by working together. It is easy to use and is effective in collaborative work and participation in the classroom, or in this case, the virtual classroom. Here is a video on how to use google jamboard.
3. Mentimeter- Is another new tech tool I have discovered this year and it is great for teachers and students to use to collect real time data on questions they may have in a form of word clouds, rankings and various scales. This is a great way to start a discussion that allows for everyone to participate collectively without needing to share their responses orally with the class. That way each child stays engaged and contributes to the collective wisdom of the group.
