“Professor Dave Explains” Mathematics YouTube Channel

Mathematics is always something I have struggled with throughout my education. The moment it wasn't compulsory anymore in secondary school, I chose to stop taking math completely. I would commonly experience feelings of anxiety when confronted with math problems and to still dislike math to this day. However, I know that as an educator for primary and junior grades, I would have to practice my math skills once again and be competent enough to teach it to students. After scouring the internet for various math related study resources, I came across a YouTube channel entitled "Professor Dave Explains".

Professor Dave covers mathematics and science ranging from the most basic math to university level math problems. While Professor Dave's self-learning YouTube channel covers mostly math and science, it is continuing to grow and encompass a multitude of subjects such as language, social sciences, and humanities. I found the Professor Dave Explains YouTube channel to be very informative and easy to engage with as Professor Dave simplifies the math lessons into short videos and provides practice questions at the end of each lesson to check learning progress. Specifically, Professor Dave breaks down his YouTube lessons into playlists so that his channel is easy to navigate and find the exact subject or lesson you are trying to learn.

The playlist I found the most helpful so far was his playlist entitled "Mathematics (All Of It)". In this specific mathematics playlist, Professor Dave's lesson videos start with learning the most basic elements of mathematics and it gradually progresses into more difficult math subjects as the user progresses through each lesson.

Both educators and students could use this YouTube channel to develop their existing skills or learn something new if they wish. For example, an educator could navigate to the Professor Dave Explains YouTube Channel and find a video on fractions if they wanted to refresh their memory before giving a lesson on fractions to their students. Another example could involve an educator integrating a short Professor Dave Explains math video into their lesson to add a fun visual element to help with student learning and retention of the subject matter. I believe this self-learning YouTube channel can be extremely beneficial for both educators and students who either struggle or thrive in mathematics and other subjects. There are lessons on this channel for everyone regardless of their mathematical skill level or capabilities.
