Truth and Reconciliation Week is a time for all people on Turtle Island to reflect on their roles, responsibilities, and efforts in dismantling the colonial systems we operate within. As educators we must learn, and in turn teach our students the truth about history and how this country came to be. The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation through the University of Manitoba came from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's calls to action. NCTR has an enormous wealth of knowledge, resources and first hand experiences to share.
In the week leading up to National day of Truth and Reconciliation, NCTR offers 45 minute sessions for educators covering topics relating to the theme of each day, such as: Treaties, Land Claims and Unceded Territories; Language and Culture; Truth and Reconciliation; Orange Shirt Day; Knowledge Transfer: Elder and Youth Dialogues.
The link below will take you to the Educator Schedule where you can explore the topics and view recordings from each session.
