In Ontario, the Daily Physical Activity (DPA) policy was implemented to promote physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviour among elementary school students. Incorporating physical activity each day can enhance students' overall health and well-being. Following the school board requirements, it is our responsibility as the classroom teacher to ensure that students are provided with a minimum of twenty minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day of the week during instructional periods.
Although there are many challenges to implementing DPA such as lack of time, lack of space and funding, educators can bring forth creative ways to get their students moving during the day as it is beneficial to their health, learning and engagement in the classroom.
For primary and junior learners, there are many resources educators can use to implement DPA. Two of these resources are highlighted below:
UJI Videos is a Youtube channel that can be used for brain breaks in the classroom.

Go Noodle is an educational resource that gets students up and moving. The engaging videos are connected to aspects of the curriculum and are suitable for kindergarten to grade 6.
