Direct Instruction or Inquiry-Based Learning?

I know you're torn - you were taught with direct instruction and you turned out fine.  Now, we say that children should explore and be guided more by inquiry.   So which is right?   It’s not either/or: Rather than choosing direct instruction or inquiry-based learning, educators strategically use both methods.
