Google Docs

Google docs is a free online word processor that allows students to complete written assignments. Individuals need to create a google account in order to access the doc. Google docs is available on all devices and platforms; however, you do need to be connected to the internet to access this site. This tool is essentially used for creating and editing documents online. Teachers are able to share information with students and allow them to edit / complete their work on a given document.

Additionally, students can work on a google doc simultaneously (if they are both shared to a specific document). There are many tools teachers can use to solidify student learning. For instance, teachers can create Venn diagrams, KWL charts, or other assessments for students to complete. This tool allows students to add images, edit text, adjust font size, change text colors, etc. The site enables students to build on their writing skills and improve their sentence structure. Furthermore, there is a function that edits spelling and other grammatical errors. Students can also present their work through charts, graphs, tables, drawings, etc. Teachers can use google docs to meet individual needs.

Google docs are also designed to assist students who have writing disabilities. Students who are unable to type / write can use the speak to text function. Individuals will speak and the site will automatically type out what is being said. Educational professionals can accommodate students by giving them access to this website. Teachers can provide students with a chrome book and allow them to complete written assessments; this is an effective way for students to complete their work. This website is used for teachers to evaluate student performance and encourage classroom participation. Google docs is an essential tool for both teachers and students.
