Some Tools to Use for Formative Assessments

Through formative assessment, teachers are able to check student understanding, get valuable data on student learning, and then use that data to modify instruction. Teachers can modify the learning criteria to better match the requirements of their students when they are able to determine what each student knows and does not know. 

We live in a time where technology is accelerating at such a fast pace because of all these technological innovations that provide students with many more opportunities to learn. There are many fantastic online formative assessment tools that give students the opportunity to reflect on their learning and evaluate where they are and where they need to go as learners. There are several effective ways to apply formative assessment using technology, including quizzes, polls, and student replies to interactive classes and films.


Some technological tools are:

·      Kahoot!

o   Kahoot is a platform for online learning using games.  It enables educators, businesses, and parents to put up entertaining web-based learning for others.


·      Blooket

o   Blooket is a web-based quiz game platform that can offer a fresh perspective on trivia and review games for group competition or solo study. Blooket is the latest addition to the growing number of educational game platforms.


·      Math Circus 

o   Math circus is a game that teaches math to kids. With a total of twelve puzzles and exercises, the game's activities are all centered around setting up and running a circus.
