At my current school we have a student who has severe anxiety after the COVID-19 outbreak regarding germs. One of the strategies we tried as a team was being able to take her out of the classroom when she would get upset.
We would do the "5 Senses" activity going through a scavenger hunt about things you see, sound, head, taste and touch. We would also play a game for self regulation called "Sense Scavenger Hunt"
We would also discuss different breathing techniques using our hands tracing the outside of them breathing in and out. This was beneficial and helped them calm down their thoughts and be able to talk through a problem.
