One of the most impactful takeaways was the importance of early communication, which can prevent interviews from becoming the first time concerns are raised. I also appreciated the emphasis on professional conduct, objectivity, and using curriculum documents and student work to support discussions.
In my placement, I observed how poor communication sometimes led to parent frustration, reinforcing the value of proactive, respectful engagement. Going forward, I plan to approach interviews as collaborative conversations, not confrontations. With strategies like active listening, clear body language, and maintaining a student-centered focus, I feel better prepared to support families and advocate effectively for my students.
