Drawbacks of Technology in Classroom

DRAWBACKS OF TECHNOLOGY IN CLASSROOM

No doubt, that technology plays a vital part in today's classroom. Use of technology in the classroom has its own drawbacks as well. During my time working  at school, I noticed that use of chromebooks and ipads have caused a lot of distraction .  For instance, if a teacher gave  chromebooks or Ipad to students to do a math problem or use IXL , After some time , they started playing games. they lost their focus from the learning and got distracted. 

After some time, other students also follow and the classroom is in chaos and it becomes very arduous for the teacher to bring back the focus. if the teacher takes away technology they start throwing tantrums.

It also came to my attention that when students finish their work early before lunch and they were given chrome books, when it was lunchtime they were not interested in eating their lunch rather playing games. and when it was recess time and play outside they would prefer staying in class rather than enjoy their time outside with their peers. This leads students to lack social skills and making connections. I would also like to mention that overuse of technology in the classroom can also deprive students from learning important life skills such as reading, learning spellings as they are spending more time on devices. 

To conclude, technology plays an important part in educational settings , but it should be used in moderation to ensure that it supports learning  and does not hinder   students from being social.
