Teachers Pay Teachers

Educators usually give their 200% to help students, families and the school community. However, it doesn't end there, teachers also help teachers by sharing ideas, resources, visuals, books, you name it. Lots of videos with ideas for the classroom can be found online. Websites are no different, the number of ideas seems to be infinite. Teachers Pay Teachers is a great example of it.

Teachers Pay Teachers is an online marketplace that was founded in 2006, on this website educators can trade, buy or/and sell resources for the classroom. After creating an account, educators can download or upload resources. The website has a vast variety of lesson plans and teaching resources from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. Some resources are free, although some of them are paid.

Teachers Pay Teachers can be accessed at https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/. The search on the website can be made by theme, grade and/or subject. To be able to download or upload resources a free account needs to be created.

For the first week of school, my teacher partner introduced some feelings to the students' vocabulary. I had the idea to add some visuals to support the students' learning. After quick research on Teachers Pay Teachers, a file folder activity showed up for free. My partner teacher and I introduced this resource to the learners. The students can access the file folder anytime they feel like talking about their feelings.

One of the file folder activities introduces the use of manipulatives, where the students can use playdough to trace the emoji while talking about feelings, another introduces the use of markers to draw their feelings on the pencil and finally, a character emotions chart for the students recognize their feelings or even draw a feeling they are having which is not shown in the folder. The file folder activities seem to retain the students' attention and they appear to enjoy using this resource.
