The Benefits of Learning Outdoors
As Educators, we can see the benefits to our students in taking learning outside. Over the years I have had first-hand experience with this as children become directors of their own learning.
At our school, we spend a great deal of time outside building structures, collecting pine cones and rocks, and building letters out of sticks we find in the forest behind the school. There is a definite difference in engagement, physical activity, and environmental awareness as children are free to actively explore. Getting outside and "bathing" in the outdoors has been proven to have positive effects on your mental health, reducing fatigue and increasing your attention span. Here are just 5 benefits of learning outside.
5 Benefits of Outdoor Learning
1. Makes learning more engaging- Students are free to explore their environment.
2. Makes learning more relevant.- Learning focuses on the interest of the students.
3. Nurtures creativity and imagination.
4. REDUCES STRESS.
