The past three days at the NU conference were full of learning, fun and making memories with fellow teacher candidates. On the first day of workshops, I would have to say that my last workshop was the one I enjoyed the most. The Resilient Teacher: Awaken Your Flame workshop was fantastic! I liked how it was one hundred percent about the teacher and supporting our mental health and well-being. As educators, I find that we usually forget to check in with ourselves and how we are feeling. This workshop really helped remind me of the importance of checking in with myself and knowing how I am feeling in the moment. I would recommend this workshop be taken by all educators.
I enjoyed that we were up and moving around through most of the workshop. It was fun to be dancing to different music and creating different types of beats. I really liked the icebreaker, and how we were to introduce ourselves with a word about how we felt, my word was calm. Once we shared our word, we "awakened our flame" by turning on the tea light, which was kept on for the rest of the workshop. I loved how that connected to the presenter's "Breath & Fire" program. Another thing I found cool was finding out that I was an air sign through the short quiz we completed during the presentation. I have to say, ending off with this workshop made me feel relaxed after a long and busy day.
