Used by teachers and students alike, a good deeds jar is used to promote good behaviour and kindness within the classroom. The concept of a good deeds jar is simple, the teacher or student acknowledges a student that either positively impacted their day, was helpful around the classroom or did a nice gesture. This is done by writing on a piece of paper the deed that the student did, and on the back write who wrote it. At the end of the week/month a certain number of deeds can be selected for a prize. A good deeds jar helps promote positive behaviour and kindness within a classroom. Students are inclined to behave and treat others with kindness through the chance of being acknowledged and complemented at the end of the week.
The good deeds jar can vary depending on the teacher. Each teacher will want to add their own adjustments and regulations on the good deed jar. An example of the use of a good deed jar would be if a student assisted the teacher in cleaning up the classroom after a craft. The teacher would write down the deed and place it in a jar where at the end of the week would have a chance at being selected for a prize.
